FuelsEurope and Concawe, in line with the voices in our industry, condemn the acts of war against Ukraine and the violation of international law, and we stand by the Ukrainian citizens as they are pushed into such tragic circumstances. Due to the ongoing conflict, EU leaders condemned the Russian Federation and announced a series of sanctions. This situation has created severe impacts on the price of energy and has raised concerns about the EU security of energy supply.
In the context of the Ukrainian crisis, FuelsEurope and Concawe created a Working Group to inform and advise the European Commission and Member State authorities on the impacts on energy supplies, including the potential EU ban on Russian oil imports or restriction availability of gas. Moreover, the Working Group is focusing on technical and operational issues, constraints, and the development of possible solutions.
FuelsEurope and Concawe have also started to cooperate with the Oil Coordination Group, chaired by European Commission’s DG Energy. This group gathers Member States representatives that meet regularly with European Commission representatives to discuss current issues of oil and oil products security of supply in the European area. Additionally, the association is maintaining close contact with National OiI Industry Associations specifically on matters that directly impact citizens, such as raising fuel prices, electricity costs and national measures decided to ease the pressure of the ongoing crisis.
